Albacora Pictures was founded by Michael Valverde who is of Ecuadorian decent. In his country, there is a very popular dish from the coastal region called “Encebollado de Pescado”. It’s made with yucca, boiled onions, tomatoes, cilantro, condiments, and Albacore tuna. Valverde is infatuated with this dish, the prominent ingredient being Albacore Tuna, he decided to name his company Albacora Pictures. He wanted the name of the company to feel personal, something that resonated with his culture. Valverde exerts the same passion for his culture into Albacora’s work.
